Just like your landline phone number growing up...you'll never forget it.
Have you ever paused while looking at a certain picture and been flooded back to that timeframe?
or even stranger...
Have you ever realized, while taking a picture or while "in the moment", that it would be a moment or a picture your brain would never forget?
While it was in present time, you still somehow knew it would be something that would make it's way to long term memory.
That one day you would look at that picture or think of that exact moment in time and smile.
Your wedding day or the day you gave birth or your first trip to x y z are all monumental memories that you know will most likely stay at the forefront but what about some normal days?
What about boring weeks in January where everyone wants to rip each other's hair out? Are their long term memories being made there? Of course there are.
Are we pausing long enough to take them in or are we just waiting for the next day's memories?
The toothless smile that won't stay toothless for long
All the stories behind those dang teeth
The sweatshirt that HAS to be a zip up and HAS to have a hood (or everyone hide)
The fading pink hair
The freckles he hates but I'm in love with
The fact that he was my least favorite/most difficult child this week
Just like my childhood phone number, this picture will be one that is embedded in my brain. This is a '...4870' picture for me, the last four digits to the Foltz household landline.
I wish you a weekend full of normalcy and maybe some boring-ness and blah-ness but one that allows you to predict a particular moment's significance before it becomes a memory.
